THE DEW OF HERMON (Friday 25th
December, 2015)
Luke 2:7,8,13,14
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and
wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was
no room for them in the inn.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds
abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a
multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, good will toward men.
KJV
Amidst the pomp and celebrations we must not lose track of what this season entails for humanity! God, in His infinite mercy, coming humbly to man in such a lowly manner! Jesus became a baby to be born in a manger! O’ the love of God how great, how amiable! I cannot help wonder what manner of care our father, the Lord God Almighty, has for us! What a care, what a love! The angels announced this good tidings to the shepherds who were keeping watch over their flocks by night. But the most important statement here is that His coming is for peace upon the earth and God’s goodwill toward men. We need peace now in our contemporary world more than ever before. All over the world peace seems to have eluded us! Whether great or small, rich or poor, educated or illiterate, black or white, peace has eluded us! Now, the coming of Jesus is to avail us of the peace we all need! However, because the world has not received Him they cannot have His peace. It’s only Jesus that can give peace to the world as He declared, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” John 14:27. As we dine and wine with friends and well-wishers, may we remember to pray for the peace of the world because that is why Jesus came! May we enjoy peace in our country all through this season and beyond! Let there be peace, Lord! SHALOM!
