THE DEW OF HERMON (Monday 23rd November,
2015)
Mal 3:17-18
And they shall be
mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will
spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 Then shall ye
return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that
serveth God and him that serveth him not.
KJV
There is an adage in my place that says “a
child that runs errand eats with dirty hands but a child that refuses to run
errand eats with clean hands” (Aj’ uchẹ ki aj’ ẹwñ ọwọ iwa, ak’
uchẹ ki aj’ẹwñ ọwọ hioolo). I
contended this saying when I was growing up thinking it was injustice against
the errand running child because I felt he that runs errand should eat with
clean hands. But one day my mother had to explain it to me: the child who runs
errand is cherished by the parents so much so that when it is time for food
they simply call him to clean his hands and come and eat. He will dust his
hands and come for food, which is often in one bowl for everybody. The child
who refuses errand will also come to eat food but they will look at his hands
very well and ask him to “go clean your hands very well for it is still dirty”.
He will run and wash his hands very well but when he comes to sit and eat they
will scrutinize his hands and tell him there is dirt in some parts of the hand
and that he has to go and wash again. They could do this several times until
finally they will ask him to eat for his hands are well cleaned but at this
time is either the food is remaining very small or it has finished. Thus the
child that runs errand eats while the one that refuses errand goes hungry. When
you look at these two children, one is distinctly well fed while the other is
underfed. The scripture above is saying God will distinguish between you and
others. You shall return and will certainly notice the difference between those
that serve God and those that serve Him not. This week, God will distinguish
you among your peers! In your academic, family, business, health, job etc, God
will distinguish you and the difference will show! So shall it be in Jesus
name! PEACE!
